SaltAire guest cottage has an open concept with high ceilings, a fully equipped apartment sized kitchen, and a dining/living area. There is one queen bedroom, one twin bedroom (stacked twins can be unstacked for 2 twins), one full bathroom with tub/shower, and an enclosed outside shower. There is excellent AC throughout the cottage.
We are on the west side of the island, separated from the water by only a lazy one lane road. The water view is spectacular, and dramatic ocean sunsets are what your lasting vacation memories will be if you choose our cottage. There are steps down to the water, and it is easy to enter the sea here. Or, if you're in the mood for sand, walk up the street or take a short trip to any number of beautiful beaches. Coffee or a cocktail at the water's edge is just feet away. It's the perfect way to both start and end your days.
In the mornings you'll likely see the fishermen in their boats departing for a day of high seas adventure. Stroll to the dock in the afternoon and pick up some of their fresh catch for your own home-cooked authentic Bahamian meal!
Uniquely situated, we nearly always have a breeze.
Tarpum Bay is unusual in that it is possible to walk to a few bars, restaurants, groceries, the fish dock, churches, and the beach, right from the cottage. You can stay here without renting a car, but truthfully, you would be missing out on some other great beaches on the island. We recommend renting a car, but it's not strictly necessary.
Our property includes two buildings. This rental is our guest cottage. We have another listing for SaltAire Villa, the main rental property #114 (https://www.eleutheradirect.com/listing.114). If your party requires 4 bedrooms, we will discount 10% if you rent both. (Please, the guest cottage is not intended for unsupervised children or teens.)
Small children and people with mobility challenges might find it hard to enter and exit the water in front of the house. There are a couple of steps into the cottage.

About The Owner
We fell in love with Eleuthera in 2008 when we visited with our kids while on spring break. Escaping Rochester NY winter weather, we returned time and time again. We took the leap and purchased our home in 2016 and spent some years renovating. Both the main home and guest cottage are now complete, and very comfortable. We love our island home and hope you will too.

Additional Location Information
Our property is in the settlement of Tarpum Bay, where Bay Street and Lord Street meet, at the sea. We are on the opposite end of Bay Street from the Primary School.
We are about 0.5 miles from a pickleball court!
We provide a copy of The Beach Book by Bret Sigillo, marked with our favorite 5 or 6 beaches. Our home is RIGHT on the water, a rock entrance to the water. We enjoy both heading out to a fabulous beach for the day (returning home in time for a cocktail and the sunset), and chilling at home when the water is flat and the convenience of home is comfortable.

Perfect Location - Close to It All
This newly renovated cottage is close to everything that my wife and I came to Eleuthera to do, plus some. The front windows overlook the water where you can see beautiful sunsets and transient boats that anchor of the beach and use the amenities of Tarpum Bay, which are all walking distance from the cottage. The cottage comes with a nicely equipped kitchen with new appliances, a new air conditioning system and plenty of local reference material. We visited and snorkeled a different beach each day.
Things we were able to enjoy within walking distance included a quaint local grocery store, a friendly local bar, beaches, and a local fishing dock where we purchased fresh grouper and rock lobsters. We were able to snorkel off the steps across the street and saw many star fishes, a sea ray and large schools of silver streak fish. It was convenient to the Rock Sound airport, large grocery store and of all things - a pickleball court.
All in all the cottage is a great place to stay that is directly on the water, close to laid back activities and on a very quiet street. Unfortunately we are unable to post pictures here, but the pictures in the listing do represent the property accurately . My wife and I hope to make it back soon. The hosts are very responsive, had great suggestions and helped us locate a rental car.
